Chuck-wagon Beans

From:  Dad
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 pound bacon, cut into little pieces
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1 cup brown sugar (not packed)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • 3 Tablespoons molasses
  • 1 dash Worcestershire sauce
  • 16 ounces canned kidney beans, drained
  • 16 ounces canned great northern beans, drained
  • 16 ounces canned pork & beans
  • cooking spray
Directions:
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Coat 9"x13" baking pan with cooking spray.
  2. In a skillet, brown the beef together with the bacon and onion.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together ketchup, brown sugar, granulated sugar, mustard, molasses and Worcestershire sauce.
  4. In a large bowl, combine beef mixture, all beans, and sugar mixture and blend well.  Pour into baking pan.
  5. Bake for 1 hour covered with aluminum foil, then 10 minutes uncovered.
My Notes:
  • I cut the bacon into little pieces with my kitchen scissors and then cook it together with the hamburger and onion
  • If the beans are still soupy, leave in longer uncovered
