Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup + 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon + 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon + 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup + 1/4 cup Kraft original bbq sauce
- 2 Tablespoons + 1 Tablespoon Worchestshire sauce
- 24 ounces canned tomato sauce
- 3 pound lean ground beef
- 2 eggs beaten
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1/4 cup chopped bell pepper
- 1 1/2-2 sleeves saltine crackers
- pepper to taste
- up to 1/2 cup water
- In a deep pan, whisk together 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/2 cup Kraft original bbq sauce, 2 Tablespoons Worcestershire sauce, tomato sauce and pepper. Add water as needed to reach non-thick consistency. Simmer over medium heat.
- In large bowl mix together 1/4 cup brown sugar, 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/4 cup Kraft original bbq sauce, 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce, ground beef, eggs, onion, bell pepper, crackers and pepper (except only add more than 1 1/2 sleeves saltine crackers as needed).
- Form into large balls (but small enough to fit inside cupped hands). When the sauce is boiling, add meatballs until sauce covers them. Simmer 35 - 40 minutes.
- Mom would always serve this with mashed potatoes.
